- Apr 01, 2016 Hey there wacoachrusso, If the drive works fine on another system then I wouldn't think the problem is with the drive. I would recommend testing the drive on a PC that recognizes it with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool and see if the drive passes both the quick and the extended tests. I'd also see if all the latest OS and driver updates are installed on the system.

- How we tested. We ran all tests with the drive connected to a Mac Pro dual quad core 2.66GHz Xeon 5400 with Mac OS X 10.6.5 installed and 3GB of RAM.
Having problems with our My Book Live 1TB (WDBACG0020HCH-00). Here is what has transpired..
I recently bought an Apple Airport Extreme (A1521, 802.11ac, 2013), and I configured it to my home network to improve the wireless experience - my ISP originally provided a crappy cheap wireless router that isn't up to the job. I was running a Windows Vista machine, but now MacBook Pro 10.8.4. Previously to getting the Airport Extreme, the MBL was plugged into the crappy router, and it worked fine (using my either my Vista laptop or Mac or iPhone via WD2go app). As part of the Airport Extreme set up, I had to unplug the MBL from the old router, and plug it into the Airport Extreme.
Since we transitioned, the Mac (which now has awesome speed on the web via the Airport express) has not been able to see the MBL on the network. I have rebooted everything but no luck. I have tried 'connect to server' on the Mac using (1) smb://mybooklive (2) afp://MyBookLive._afpovertcp._tcp.local but the Mac just can't find the MBL, and eventually gives me the error '...check the server name or IP address, check your network connection..'.
Mac os high sierra compatibility software.
The MBL light continually flashes green, and never goes solid green. Vista machine is now defunked wirelessly because the Airport Express security is higher than it can handle, BUT if I plug the MBL to the Vista machine with an ethernet cable, it can read the drive fine, although the green light still flashes on MBL. I can't get the same with the Mac using the ethernet. My iPhone 4S using WD2go can access the MBL, but its as slow as a dog in connecting, but not too bad once it is 'in'. Just using it now with 4S, it will stream music but stops after every song esp if key locked.
So basically the move of ethernet connection from the old router to the Airport Extreme means my Mac can't access the MBL.
I appreciate any help you can give in this matter. I am very much a novice when it comes to things like this and I have been using a Mac for 4 days! 😕
Thanks
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)
